Vision, Mission,
Core Values
A vital and growing congregation
needs a vision. Its covenant disciples need to know where they are
going (a vision), how they are going to get
there (a mission statement), and what they
believe (a set of core values).
The Vision
“Bread of Life
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will challenge people in the
Lenexa and
Shawnee areas of Kansas (and other surrounding communities) to
answer the call of God to be disciples of Jesus Christ, witnessing
to our love for Christ through our relationships to each other and
to the world.”
Mission
Statement
“Bread of Life
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) calls together individuals
and families in the Lenexa and
Shawnee areas of Kansas (and other surrounding communities) to:
-
Enrich their
relationship to Christ through Spiritual Life Groups, worship,
and service;
-
Enrich their
relationships to each other through faith in Christ;
-
Enrich the world
for Christ by confronting injustice and indignity; and
-
Enrich the Body of
Christ by establishing a new Christian congregation in the
future.”
Core Values
“The Core Values of
Bread of Life Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are:
-
The Lordship of
Jesus Christ (no other test of fellowship)
-
The Lord’s Supper
is open to all believers (the Lord’s table is Christ’s alone to
share)
-
The ministry of all
believers (all are called to ministry at our baptism)
-
The love of unity
(we are not the only Christians, but only Christians among many)
-
The
justice of God (we care for the People of God who are
marginalized by culture and systems – Micah 6:8)”

We want our church to be a place for spiritual growth
for everyone, at all ages.

Our
symbol is the red chalice bearing the cross
of
St. Andrew
on the left side of the bowl. |
In the breaking of bread and
the sharing of the cup each week, we experience the presence of God in
brokenness and in healing. With joy and thanksgiving, our desire
is to share this Good News with the rest of the world.
Bread of Life Christian
Church is a blended family with people from all walks of life and all
ages and with a wide variety of experiences on life’s spiritual
journeys.
We invite you to also be a
part of the blessing of Bread of Life Christian Church. All
Christians are called to walk a journey. If you are interested in
sharing your journey with us, we will do everything we can to ease the
course and enrich the path.
You are important.
